I went to Belgium for a holiday!!

Very much European Style old town.
Buildings whispering their histories.

Loved them!



ではまずブリュッセルから。

So let's start with Brussels.

Stairs in the Royal Museums of Fine Arts

ブリュッセルには美しい建物がたくさんありますが、
中でも存在感のあるアール・ヌーボー様式の建築に目をひかれます。

There are many beautiful buildings in Brussels, especially, stunning Art Nouveau style architectures catch your eyes.







ベルギーのアール・ヌーボー建築家といえばヴィクトール・オルタ。

The most famous Art Nouveau architect in Belgium is Victor Horta.

オルタはベルギーのゲントに生まれ、芸術アカデミーで建築を学びました。
そしてアール・ヌーボーを紹介する展示がひらかれた際、それに大きな衝撃をうけ、アール・ヌーボーと建築を見事に融合させ、数々の邸宅を手がけました。

オルタ自身が建築した自宅兼アトリエは現在オルタ美術館として一般公開されています。

His house and studio, designed by himself is now open for public as Horta Museum.

美術館は残念ながら撮影禁止でした。
